“Within” the pattern: Hip-Hop and Jazz

We will explore some Hip Hop concepts that have found their way into my Jazz practice. Through different grooves, weights, rhythms and movement qualities, we’ll explore the connections between Vernacular Jazz and Hip-Hop, and how these influences can coexist. The goal is not to reproduce a specific style, but to experiment what happens when Jazz and Hip-Hop meet within our movement.

“Within” the music: Musicality, layers & choices

Music is made of many layers and each offers different ways into the dance. In this workshop, we’ll explore how to choose where to place our attention and how these choices can shape our movement. Through musicality exercises and improvisation, we’ll play with creating a dialogue with the music and making intentional choices in our interpretation.
